Bio

I'm a teacher, nurse, sailor, tree hugger, and cat enthusiast.

I began my professional career as an early childhood educator with a specialty in infant/toddler development. I taught children, then adults, and then managed a statewide technical assistance program for infant/toddler child care providers. Then I went back to school...

As a nurse, I started in a community hospital pediatrics unit. I moved to a residential school and camp program at NorthBay Adventure Camp (best job I ever had or will have!). I then moved to home care, where I learned far more about critical care than I ever did in a hospital!

Now I work per diem as a staff nurse in an urgent care facility and pediatric home care. My primary job is as a teacher. I teach pediatric nursing in an associate degree program with a concept based/flipped classroom model and nursing research in an online RN-to-BSN program.

My current interests are wellness coaching for clients as well as nursing students, grit and growth midset as it effects health and learning, and flipped classroom methods to support development of critical thinking.
