I have been a full-time nurse educator in an ADN program since 1992 and teach students in the classroom, college laboratory, and clinical area in a community hospital. I help students learn about fundamentals of nursing, adult health, and nursing issues and trends. I continued to work as a staff nurse in medical-surgical and progressive care units per diem until 2010. While a DNP student at Touro University Nevada I had the opportunity serve as an ANA student intern on a Professional Issues Panel to advance palliative care.
My interest in palliative care has evolved through personal experiences and working with patients, students, staff, and the palliative care coordinator in our community hospital.
In May 2016, I celebrated 40 years of marriage and nursing. We have 2 sons and 5 grandchildren and enjoy spending time with them as much as possible.
