Audrey M. Stevenson, PhD, MPH, MSN, FNP-BC

Audrey M. Stevenson, PhD, MPH, MSN, FNP-BC, is a family nurse practitioner with more than 30 years of clinical and public health experience. Dr. Stevenson, who holds master of public health and master of nursing degrees, received her doctorate in public health from the University of Utah.

She has worked in public health for the past 30 years and is currently division director of family health services for the Salt Lake County Health Department in Salt Lake City, Utah. She manages six public health centers and a variety of initiatives, including the immunization program; the Women, Infants, and Children nutrition program; clinical collaborations; cancer screening programs; public health nursing; and the nurse-family partnership.

Dr. Stevenson has worked as a family nurse practitioner in a number of inpatient
and ambulatory settings and has served as a nurse consultant to the Salt Lake City School District. She has published articles and spoken at national and international conferences on topics affecting school nurses, advanced practice nurses, and other medical and pharmacy providers.

Dr. Stevenson has also been actively involved in professional organizations. She has served on the boards and in leadership roles in several nursing and public health associations. She has advocated for issues related to nursing practice and other practice issues.

In 2010, Dr. Stevenson received the American Nurses Association Immunity Award as a result of her efforts to promote the use of tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis vaccine at public health clinics, resulting in a new protocol at several Utah hospitals to offer the vaccine to postpartum women prior to hospital discharge.

In 2015, Dr. Stevenson was the recipient of the Beatty Award. The Beatty Award is the most distinguished award given by the Utah Public Health Association (UPHA).

Each year the Beatty Award is presented to a UPHA member who is in good standing and who has made a significant contribution to public health in Utah.

Much of Dr. Stevenson’s work is focused on finding ways to provide the community with the highest quality of public health services; specifically within women’s care, pediatrics, and immunization programs.

In her free time, Dr. Stevenson enjoys traveling, reading, gardening and sewing. She also enjoys scuba diving and the outdoors. She is the proud mother of three children and 2 grandchildren (and counting).
