Bio

I am the Founder and President of Marie Ortaliz Center, Inc. and currently self-employed as consultant in nursing education. I provide  critical care continuing nursing education and CCRN Review to various healthcare facilities in the US. I am the Incoming president of the Philippine Nurses Association of New York for 2018-2020. I have 25 years experience in critical care nursing. My passion is mentoring new nurses in critical care where I share with them my extensive experience in clinical work and assist nurses to bridge theory and practice. I published a book in 2014 to help nurses in the orientation process. The book is entitled Preceptor Training Handbook: Approaches to Clinical Effectiveness of Nurse Preceptors. I have been involved with academia, teaching the BSN program and the RN to BSN program at Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, NY, and at the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing at Mount Sinai. I have taught Ethics in Nursing and Nursing in a Clinical Specialty as nursing subjects. I received  the National Nursing Educator Award from the Philippine Nurses Association of America in 2012. I earned the BSN degree in 1975 from the Colegio San Agustin - Bacolod City, Philippines, the Master's degree from New England College, New Hampshire, in 2010, and the Doctor of Education degree from New England College, New Hampshire, in 2014. I have lectured nationally and internationally from 2010 to the present time.
