Bio

Priscilla Limbo Sagar, EdD, RN, ACNS-BC, CTN-A, is professor emerita of nursing at Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, New York. She received a BS in Nursing from the Philippine Women’s University; an MS in Adult Nursing, minor in education from Pace University; and an EdD in nursing education from Columbia University.

 

Dr. Sagar has the distinction of being selected as a Transcultural Scholar by the Transcultural Nursing Society (TCNS); Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine; member of the Nursing Hall of Fame at Columbia University; and recipient of the Leininger Award for outstanding leadership in transcultural nursing (TCN). She was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing in October 2019.

 

Dr. Sagar has board certification in adult health from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and advanced certification in TCN from the TCNS Certification Commission. She is a site evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Her research interests include TCN; mentoring; and international nursing, partnerships, and collaborations. She serves as consultant in cultural diversity and promotion of cultural competence; accreditation; and curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. Dr. Sagar had facilitated several national and international conferences to disseminate TCN research and knowledge. She is a longtime member of TCNS and the Philippine Nurses Association of America and its PNA-NY, Inc. chapter where she is currently a board member. Her other professional memberships include the American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing.

 

Dr. Sagar’s publications include Enhancing the Representation of Transcultural Nurses in the Media, The Public Trust and Our Strength in Numbers: Harnessing the Power of Nursing; Nurses Leading the Fight Against Ebola Virus Disease; Transcultural Nursing Education Strategies; Transcultural Nursing Theory and Models: Application in Nursing Education, Practice and Administration; and several book chapters on specialty nursing certification and theory application.
