Bio

Sharon Weinstein is an energetic, motivating and highly skilled consultant specializing in patient/staff safety, workplace wellness, corporate training, and motivational speaking. As CEO at SMW Group she 'leads the field.' She is highly regarded for enhancing the knowledge base of millions in the areas of self-care, workforce and the environment in which care is delivered.

Sharon is a classic example of reinventing oneself. A world leader in the field of infusion therapy and author of Plumer's Principles and Practice of Infusion Therapy, she has taught thousands to practice safely. She offers consultation in legal cases involving medication safety and is adjunct clinical assistant professor at UIC, Chicago and Purdue Global University. She is a content expert on both nurse fatigue and alarm fatigue and is a member of the Academy of Nursing's Expert Panel on Global Health and the ANA Nurse Fatigue Committee.

As the healthcare field transitioned into the integrative arena, she was one step ahead focusing her energies on overall well-being. As founder of the Global Education Development Institute (www.gedinfp.com), Sharon earned her spot as the go-to professional for education, resources, and training. Within the Eastern European communities, she founded the International Nursing Leadership Institute (INLI), graduating 156 professionals who received more than 12,000 hours of education through the Institute. In turn, many of them were promoted to leadership positions within the Ministry of Health and healthcare programs. INLI provided a year-long learning experience in which NIS and CEE nurses gained the skills and knowledge needed to be successful leaders and mentors in their respective countries. Many of our graduates were inducted into Sigma. As a result of this program, she co-founded the first chapter of Sigma in Eastern Europe, based at Erebouni College of Nursing. The development of a cadre of nurse leaders for these emerging countries was a highlight of her professional career.

Sharon’s background as a nurse, educator, speaker and author make her uniquely qualified to assess safety, fatigue, lifestyle balance, and workforce.  Recent engagements for the International Council of Nurses, the Alliance Library System, National Wellness Institute, NBC, Infinity Foundation, the YWCA, INS, SHRM, APCO, and the American Holistic Nurses Association attest to her scope of knowledge and ability to engage others who want to Create a Strong Workforce, Boost Workplace Engagement, and Ensure Staff Well-being.

She is author of B is for Balance, 2nd edition, which was awarded 1st place in consumer health in 2015, and 21 additional books, including Think Differently...18 Strategies to Fix Broken Thinking.
